Sell your memberships using the ROLLER Point of Sale
In this video, you’ll learn how to sell both fixed and recurring memberships at POS. Recurring memberships require card authorization and are only available with ROLLER Payments.
To begin, select a membership product from the POS screen. A fixed price membership is a one-time payment, while a recurring membership works like a subscription, with the guest charged on a regular schedule. In this example, we’ll choose a recurring monthly membership.
By default, the membership will start today. If a guest prefers a later start date, such as during school holidays, you can change it once the product is in the cart. To update the start date, select “Edit” next to membership start date in the cart panel, choose a date from the calendar, then select “Change Date” and continue. The start date determines when billing and access begin for recurring memberships. Fixed price memberships, however, always begin on the day they’re purchased.
Next, you’ll enter the membership holder’s details. You can search for an existing guest using their name, email, or phone number, or add new contact details to create a profile. Then select continue. If a waiver is required, select the pen icon to search for and attach it. If the guest hasn’t signed yet, they’ll need to complete the waiver before you can proceed. Once attached, select continue to move forward.
Recurring memberships also require a booking agreement. This can be sent by text or email, or opened in a new tab to sign on screen. The agreement ensures the guest accepts your venue’s terms and helps protect your recurring revenue. Once it’s signed, select refresh, then continue to proceed with payment.
Recurring memberships must be paid for with a card. ROLLER securely stores payment details to automate future charges and reduce missed payments. If the start date is set to today, choose “Card” as the payment method, then select “Pay” and collect card details. If the start date is in the future, select “Collect Card Details” instead. In both cases, the guest completes authorization using the connected terminal.
When payment is successful, you’ll see the confirmation screen. From here, you can email or print the receipt or open the completed booking. Finally, select “Start New Sale” to return to the main POS screen.
You’ve just sold a recurring membership. You’ve learned how to change the start date, send a booking agreement, and collect card authorization for ongoing payments. Great job.
